Ren Finkel, Rosh Yeshiva

Pictured is Ren, a white butch with bleached mullet and glasses. They are leaning on a table in front of brightly lit trees.

Ren Finkel (they/them) is a multimedia artist, community organizer, and rabbinical school dropout in so-called Pittsburgh, PA. They are deeply committed to healing work and restorative justice, and bring that orientation to their antizionism. They studied Talmud & pedagogy at both the Reconstructionist Rabinical College and SVARA, and are working to bring that knowledge into a lay-lead Jewish future.

Studying ancestral Jewish text has become the heart of their spiritual practice, and they tend to study Torah with a 2:1 ratio of respect to irreverence. After years of focusing their art practice on photography, they’ve since fallen in love with linocut print making. Keep an eye out for Beis Lakish’s upcoming art & zine press!

They are dedicated to building a Judaism free from Zionism, and believe that a liberated Palestine is the first step.
